DR. TROUM


Dr. Troum was born in New York but grew up in North Carolina. He went to college at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He attended medical school at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. From there, Dr. Troum completed a residency in general surgery at Mercer University in Macon, GA and then returned to Wake Forest for a fellowship in hand & upper extremity surgery. He is board certified in both surgery of the hand & general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Troum is also a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).



Dr. Troum has been in private practice since 1997 but remains active academically. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mercer University and is a preceptor for the Physican Assistant program at the University of North Texas. He has published multiple journal articles and book chapters on topics including arthroscopy, vascular disease, hand infections, replantation, tumors, congenital shoulder dislocation, and various subjects in general surgery. He was a team physician for the Texas Tornado junior league hockey team in 2003 and is currently hand surgeon for the Harris-HEB Sports Institute. Dr. Troum was also recently honored by the Texas State Legislature when he received an honorary commission as Surgeon General of Texas by Senator Jane Nelson in April 2004.

Dr. Troum has dedicated his practice to the specialty of hand & upper extremity surgery and is director of the Hand & Upper Extremity Center of the Orthopedic Institute of Texas, PA in Hurst, TX. He currently resides in Southlake with his wife, Amanda.
